Camping out allows you to get a more complete sensory experience of the place you're visiting, not just by sleeping close to nature, but by freeing up dollars to spend on local food and adventures.
Homer's city-maintained campgrounds are open from April 1-Oct. 30.
The camping fee is $8 per day for tents or $100 in advance for 14 days and $15 per day for RVs or $189 in advance for 14 days. Camping limit per site is 14 days. To register and pay, visit the Camp Fee Collection Cabin on the Homer Spit or use drop boxes at the campgrounds.
Fishing Hole Campground
Fish cleaning tables, handicapped accessible restroom facilities, potable water, easy access to an RV dump sites. Adjacent to Nick Dudiak Fishing Lagoon next to Pier One Theatre on the Homer Spit.
Mariner Park
At the base of the Homer Spit on the west side.
Beaches along the west side of the Homer Spit
As marked. There are a few privately owned campgrounds, which have different fees than the city-run sites.
Hornaday Campground
Sheltered sites, picnic tables, fire rings potable water, pit toilets; flush toilets nearby in Karen Hornaday Park. Located in the wooded hillside above Hornaday Park and Playground on Fairview Avenue.
Seafarers Memorial
Near the end of the Homer Spit. Winter camping only; no fee.
