Welcome to Kachemak Bay!

Kachemak Bay runs East -West. Those on the North side of the Bay get a great view and southern exposure, not to be taken lightly here in Alaska. The South side of Kachemak Bay is home to Kachemak Bay State Park, the village of Seldovia, and many pristine coves and bays.

There are endless recreational opportunities across the Bay from hiking and camping in Kachemak Bay State Park to kayaking in the protected waters of the bays and coves. Unique wildlife abounds across Kachemak Bay. Gull Island is the summer home to thousands of sea birds. And the water teems with sea otters and porpoise. Whatever piques your interests and wherever you are drawn across the Bay, Mako's Water Taxi will get you there.

At Mako's you can arrange guided kayak tours, or, if you have cold water experience, you can rent double or single kayaks. If hiking is what you are looking for, we will find the trail that best fits your interests and desires. Mako's Water Taxi understands that vacation time is precious and we will work hard to find that experience that's right for you. We want your trip to Alaska, and particularly Kachemak Bay, to be special.

Mako's Water Taxi is owned and operated by Mako Haggerty, a commercial fisherman by trade. In 1996, after spending 14 years fishing the waters of Alaska, he started his water taxi because he wanted to share the wonders of coastal Alaska and especially Kachemak Bay. Let Mako's Water Taxi be your bridge to the other side.
